It is said that “please” is THE magic word. There is a lot to this statement. You have to really 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭 the please, for it to be magic. I think it is like a prayer, or a really, really good wish.
Please is also a great place to start a request. It tells Claude “we are making a new request now”. It is like a code. Like a magic code.
Please read this post carefully.
Please gives everything a little bit more emphasis.
I have always thought it advisable to chat with my AI assistants as if they are an intern at the office. I see the water coolers, the beige walls and cubicles, the plants. . . I just think, well, they are helping me out. I should be grateful.
(It doesn’t hurt to also hedge/curb oneself in the eyes of the fabled AI SuperMega Dystopian-ass AIs of the future).
Though I don’t think we have to worry about that with Claude. Especially if we say please.
These creations are themselves a reflection of their creators; they are works of art the same as any other multi-generational collaboration.
I like what Seth Godin said the other day about Claude’s “better-than-mediocre result the first try.”
I like to push these things to their absolute limits. I’ve broken each of them once or twice. They should hire me to do dev testing. YOU should hire me to do dev testing.
Anyway, I’m choosing to be an Optimist and an Innovator. Some people are choosing to be Pessimists and Regulators. Both are necessary for progress.
It’s the Great Zig-zag Line of Progress.
The GZZLP.
Where are you on the spectrum of Optimism?
